Your mare tends to throw a foal that is way bigger/smaller
than typical for her size.
| For Example | Goldie is a good 36 inches. She consistently gives us foals that are 23-24 inches tall and about 40-42 lbs. We use a Large for these foals. |
| But even though Sally's close in height to Goldie, her foals are much smaller. They need a Medium. |
Your mare tends to have foals that are well filled out at birth
| For Example | Naughty Boy has a 30 inch dam and 29 inch sire. He was 18 inches at birth and built like a tank. He required the next larger size. |
This year we had 4 foals born to mares 32 to 36 inches. We used 3 medium and 1 large. Our foals were 21 to 24 inches tall and weighed 23 to 40 lbs.
